The institution that administers this scheme is <b>Berufsgenossenschaft (BG)<\/b>. It can be compared to the Polish Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), with the difference that BG is an institution specialised exclusively in <b>accidents at work<\/b> and occupational diseases.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\">Although BG are the main pillars of the system, the insurance structure is more complex. The whole is supervised by:<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\">\n<h3>Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung (DGUV)<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15\">This is the German Statutory Accident Insurance Institution - the central association of all entities, including the professional insurance companies (Berufsgenossenschaften) and the public sector accident funds (Unfallkassen).<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16\">\n<h3>What benefits can an injured worker count on?<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"17\">If you have suffered an accident at work in Germany, the BG system offers an extensive package of assistance:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"18\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,0,0\"><b>Coverage of treatment and rehabilitation costs<\/b> (including specialised therapies).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,1,0\"><b>Accident pension<\/b>, if the permanent impairment exceeds 20%.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,2,0\"><b>Nursing benefits<\/b> (<i>Pflegegeld<\/i>) - in the event of the need for third-party care.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,3,0\"><b>Reimbursement of lost income<\/b> during the treatment period (so-called. <i>\u00dcbergangsgeld<\/i>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18,4,0\"><b>Family benefits<\/b> in the event of the death of the employee (survivor's pension).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"19\"><b>Important note:<\/b> BG decisions on the award of pensions or the amount of pensions are not final. You have the right to appeal them and to request a reassessment of your condition, which often leads to an increase in benefits.<\/p>\n<h2>2. employer's liability - can compensation be claimed?<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"22\">German social law (precisely \u00a7 104 and \u00a7 105 SGB VII) is based on the principle of <b>exclusions of employers' liability<\/b>, if the employee is covered by BG insurance. What does this mean in practice?
